Southern Christian Leadership Conference was formed in 1957 after the Montgomery Bus Boycott had ended. As the title suggests it was based off of the church aspect between African Americans and really brought them together in a different kind of way. Martin Luther King Jr. the founder of the SCLC made the common goal of only protesting non violently and working that way to achieve victory in the civil rights movement.
