In Birmingham Alabama, a civil rights leader named Rev. Fred Shuttlesworth had his home bombed by the KKK. There was damage to his home and the church next door. He had helped organize protests and boycotts and thus was a target. Even after the bombing he continued to be in the protest rides the day after.
