Descripción:
Robert Fulton made history when he installed a steam engine in a boat called the Clermont and in 1807 plied up the Hudson River from NY City to Albany. The trip took him 150 miles in an astounding 32 hours. This application of steam power to a boat caught on quickly on U.S. Rivers, there were 60 steamboats on the Mississippi River system in 1820 and over 1000 on the same by 1860.
