The industrial revolution in America transformed the way people worked, making the work day an impersonal and extremely demanding physical challenge. With long hours, unsafe conditions and unfriendly oversight, American workers began to petition for relief. The strike and the labor union were not fully developed in this time period but an important court case set the precedent for American workers when Massachusetts Supreme Court ruled that the strike was not necessarily illegal nor a conspiracy.
