After Rosa Parks refused to give up her front seat to a White passenger on the bus, African Americans all over Montgomery, Alabama stopping riding the bus. This form of peaceful, nonviolent protest was successful and impactful. The boycott affected the economy and the bus companies, because the majority of the riders were African Americans, and they were losing almost all of their business.
