Japanese left the Americans hopeless or that's what they thought. Millions of Americans volunteered for military force to help they were well-trained that by that time women were so much needed as men. On May 1942, the WAAC became law, the bill where women volunteers would serve in noncombat positions. This gave women a status and salary.
