One year after the assassination of Marquis, Charles moved to England and became a well known tutor for the french language and literature. He had fallen in love with Lucie Manette. He goes to speak to Dr.Manette who knows what he wants to speak of. Charles describes how he knows of her past and how she grew up with no parents and that their relationship is extremly important.
