Everyone was talking about the war and everyone looked so worried. They were issued mandatory gas masks that came in a little cardboard box with a shoulder strap.

Citizens were required to carry their masks with them at all times.

Children in Grandma's class were being sent home because they had forgotten their masks. They were even required to take them out to playtime.
