Vatican City was a glowing sanctuary for 4 years due to the sheer numbers of mages present in the clergy and them heeding the warnings of Seers. Mostly made of Ward Mages, the Catholic Church was only able to protect the City Proper, but accepted any and all survivors, regardless of faith, creed, etc.They only fell due to their mages falling to exhaustion and mana collapse and demons taking advantage of cracks in those defenses.
