1 ene 1200 año aC - Trojan War (mythic)

Descripción:

The Trojan war is the most famous war in Greek mythology. The war was waged between the Trojans and Greek allied states. The war started as a result of a divine dispute which was settled when Paris of Troy was asked to decide between the Gods. Aphrodite bribed Paris with Helen, the wife of the Spartan king, to convince him to side with her. When Paris sought to enter Sparta by force to take Helen, a war ensued. The war involved famous heroes such as Odysseus and Achilles. The war ended when the Greeks sent a wooden horse into the city as a "gift," which was in reality a deception. It was filled with soldiers who infiltrated the city and captured it. The Gods remained vengeful and Athena who sided with Troy following Aphrodite's deception destroys the Greek ships as they return home victorious.

Tales of this war are recounted in Homer's Illiad and are continued through the Odyssey. The mythic war may have been based on real events, however, the mythic conflict between the Gods and the relative relationship between Gods and humans remained significant through the Roman period.
