As space tech is taken out of it's purview in favor of the NSDO, it refocuses aggressively on non-space “breakthrough” R&D - leaning into its mandate for “advanced, high-risk, high-payoff” work. Projects in computing, networking, materials science, battlefield AI, and automated systems are greenlit earlier and with more funding.
