5 jul 1775 año - Olive Branch Petition July 5, 1775

Descripción:

The Olive Branch Petition was adopted by the Second Continental Congress and addressed to King George III on July 5, 1775. The purpose of the petition, which was written by John Dickinson, was to reconcile and rebuild the relationship between the colonies and Great Britain. Ultimately, King George III refused to look at the petition and declared the colonies to be in a state of rebellion that August. The complete rejection by the King to even see the petition made the colonists realize that their concerns had never been truly heard, causing the writing and approving of the Declaration of Independence.
