Apple recently announced that it would be including 13 new emojis in the next update representing those with disabilities. Some emojis include an ear with a hearing aid, a person in a wheelchair, a service dog, and more. They've consulted major organizations for people with disabilities to put together the proposal for Unicode, and they're hoping to "fill the a significant gap and provide a more inclusive experience for all users" (Yurieff, 2018). Overall, the announcement has a received a generally positive response.
