It was carried out by the CIA (U.S.) to depose the democratically elected President Arbenz and ended the Guatemalan Revolution while pretending the U.S. had no involvement. This was because the agrarian reforms put out by Arbenz hurt the United Fruit Company so people sought the U.S. to help since they supported the previous dictatorships.
