Developed a plan to help shore up the destroyed infrastructures of western Europe. It helped rebuild European economies through capitalism and stopping communist or Soviet influence in the devastated nations of Europe. In response, the Soviet Union then created the COMECON that promoted trade with Eastern Europe as a resistance alternative to the spread of capitalism.
