JFK publicly warned the USSR that the US would take the stationing of nuclear weapons in Cuba as a direct threat to American security. The warning was issued because US surveillance detected Soviet military build up on the Cuban island. Kennedy was trying to to deter escalation of conflict between the counties but soon after the Cuban Missile Crisis took place.Añadido al timeline:
