Descripción:

The US aimed to capture the island of Iwo Jima from Japan for its strategic placement. The battle was brutal especially for the Japanese, almost all of there soldiers died. This showed the Japanese spirit to fight for the death and laid the groundwork for how they would behave as the war went on. It also led later to the decision of the atomic bombs because of how bloody the war was.
