23 agos 1921 año - British Mandate begins
Descripción:
Following a failed revolution and British reclamation of control in Mesopotamia, the League of Nations approves a British mandate, or authority, of the country. The country's name is changed from Mesopotamia to Iraq, and Faisal ibn Husayn, previously King of Syria before his ejection by the French this same year, is appointed king.
King Faisal I of Iraq would be supported by British troops, though the country was truly controlled by the British administration.
