2 dic 1823 año - The Monroe Doctrine
Descripción:
The Monroe Doctrine, announced by President James Monroe was a key U.S. foreign policy.
It stated that the Americas were closed to further European colonization and warned European powers against interfering in the political affairs of countries in the Western Hemisphere. The doctrine also made clear that the U.S. would not involve itself in European wars or conflicts.
It was signed to protect newly independent nations in Latin America from European influence, as many of these nations had recently gained independence from Spain and Portugal. The doctrine was meant to assert U.S. leadership in the Western Hemisphere and prevent European powers from reasserting control in the region.
