Victory in Europe Day, or V-E Day, Germany unconditionally surrendered its military forces to the Allies, including the United States. Celebrations erupted around the world to mark the end of World War II in Europe. While there was immense joy and relief at the end of the war, VE Day was also a day of sadness and reflection, as many had lost loved ones in the conflict.
