14 nov 1943 año - Leo Kanner and the First Description of Autism
Descripción:
In 1943, a child psychiatrist at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine wrote the first article describing children "without the social instinct to orient towards other poeple, who were mostly focused or even obsessed with objects, and who had a "need for sameness" or a "resistance to (unexpected) change"" (Baron-Cohen 2015). This description established autism as a developmental condition and disability, which separated this condition from other disorders, and kept children from being misdiagnosed with other disorders such as schizophrenia. These findings helped to shape education for children with autism, as well as build the modern definition that we know today as Autism Spectrum Disorder. (TreeTop ABA Therapy 2023)
