Prince Dmitry of Moscow led forces vs. the Golden horde, resulting in Russia's first major victory. Though this did not end Mongol rule, it was a turning point in their control giving Moscow claims of ascendancy over all other Russian principalities.

Dmitry's Son, Vasily I, would formally resubmit to Mongol authority 32yrs later.
