Stilicho recalls the Sixth and Twentieth Legions, representing the bulk of the comitatenses field army from Britain to fight in the Gothic War. The limitanei frontier guards from the Saxon Shore forts were reorganized into a field army of approx. 6000 troops in the south, and some frontier guards were left to defend the North.
