June 5: Israel launched a preemptive strike, Operation Focus, against Egypt. In a few hours, Israel destroyed most of Egypt’s air force on the ground.

As Israel moved into Sinai, Jordan and Syria entered the war on Egypt's side. Jordan began bombing Israel, and Syria attacked Israeli positions on the Golan Heights.

June 6-7: Israel quickly defeated Jordanian forces, capturing East Jerusalem and the West Bank. Israel also began advancing into the Golan Heights against Syrian forces.

Israeli forces pushed deeper into Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula, and Israeli ground forces began taking control of key territories.

June 7: Israel captured East Jerusalem and the West Bank (which had been controlled by Jordan since 1948), and the Golan Heights from Syria.

June 10: After significant losses, Egypt, Syria, and Jordan agreed to ceasefire terms.

June 10-11: A ceasefire brokered by the UN came into effect, and the war officially ended.

Territorial Changes: Israel gained control of the Sinai Peninsula, East Jerusalem, the West Bank, and the Golan Heights, dramatically altering the geopolitical landscape.

UN Resolution 242: Following the war, the United Nations Security Council adopted Resolution 242, calling for Israel to withdraw from territories occupied during the war and for peace negotiations between Israel and the Arab states.
