On October 4th, a shipment of Monkeys arived at the Reston monkey house. The monkeys were a territorial breed known as Crab Monkeys and were shipped from a wholesale company in the Philippines. The conditions in which they were shipped were poor; they were packed tightly in cages and then put into wooden crates, and the monkeys often bloodied each other during shipment to have space. When the monkeys arrived at the Reston monkey house, in Virginia, two had died in shipment. However, more died at an unusual rate within the following weeks.
