Physical/Motor 2-6 years old My lower body begins to lengthen and my proportions begin to start catching up to my huge head. A lot of this comes from fat turning into muscle and proportions evening out.
Physical Motor 5-6 years I am able to throw a ball to my dad using my full range of motion. At this age, most children can use a more agressive manner in throwing a ball or object. I thought I could play pro football at this time
Fine Motor Development 2-3 years I am able to start using crayola crayons to scribble and make scribbles on paper. I have a tough time controlling it but I will eventually have more control in a year.
Cognitive Development 4-5 years I realize that I am a boy and my biological makeup means that I will always be a boy. I know that when I grow up I will be a father and not a mother because of my gender.
Cognitive Development 4 years 6 months I throw a fit because my brother has 4 pieces cut of one hot dog and I only have 3 pieces. Even though they are the same, my conservation of matter is not developed and I don't realize the difference.
Cognitive- Pre-operational 3-4 years I overgeneralize that all dogs are shorter than 1 feet because my neighbor's dog is very short. I believe that all dogs will be under one feet.
Social Emotional I see my younger brother and I can tell he is happy to see me. This is because I am now better at reading emotions and I can differentiate between happy and sad.
Social Emotional I show sympathy when I see my fellow preschool friend not getting to play with the toy he wants. I feel bad for him and I can tell that he is upset that he doesn't get playtime with the toy.
Non Normative 3-4 years I could not throw a ball yet. This was not normal because most children at this age possess the ability to throw without using much upper body. However, I soon caught up when I was close to 5 and I learned quickly.
Social Emotional 2-3 years I am aware of my own emotions when I see myself in the mirror. I try to be happy because I like to see my smile in the mirror. Being aware of my emotions is a phase of social emotional growth
