The Great War Begins
The first 10 Ilya Mouremetz bombers are delevered the Russain Imperal Army. They are heavily modified for long range strategic bombing and have the first internal bomb bay.
Germay begins the first of many airships raids against Britain's population centers.
Britan developes incinderary amunition for targeting while flying. Before tracers, targeting was accomplished by guess work and watching where the bullets impacted.
French pilot Roland Garros fits defelctor plates to the rear of his propeller. This allows him to fire through his spinning prop with relatively little damage to the plane.
Unkown Autrian pilot parachutes to saftey on the Russan front. This is one of the first accounts of pilot using a parachute due to military high comand banning pilots form using them.
German ace Oswald Boelcke publishes the Dicta Boelcke, the first guide to aeral combat. Some of its basic princples are still being used to this day.
Britsh aircraft are equiped with a mix of explosive and incendiary amunituion, this is the beginning of the end for the airship in military service.

The Iya Mouremtz takes its first flight as a passenger aircraft. It is the largest aircraft at the time and the first with a closed cockpit.
Rex Warnerford destoys an airship by dropping 6 bombs onto its roof, this is one of the first airships brought down by aircarft.
An armistice is signed, effectively ending the war.
