1869: A protestant from ireland named Thomas Scott who believed that the Metis were not fit to be part of a government
1870: Louis Riel was now a criminal to the Canadian government and they issued a warrant for his arrest. So he moved to America and the rest of the Metis moved to Saskatchewan.
March 1885: Louis Riel made Gabriel Dumont the military commander because he realized war was afoot. The Metis used guerilla tactics in the battle of Duck Lake and forced the Canadian army to retreat.
May 9-12 1885 : The battle of Batoche was when Louis was not happy with Dumont's progress so he stopped the guerilla tactics and organized the men to defend Batoche. 900 Canadian soldiers defeated the 300 metis and captured Riel while Dumont fled to U.S.A
1869:Louis Riel became the leader of the Metis in Red River when he was 25. Louis set up a provisional government because he was planning on making the Canadian government cooperate with the Metis to establish a permanent government that could be supported by the Metis.
1870:Louis Riel thought of Thomas scott as a threat so Louis got Scott arrested with his government and in March 1870 he was executed
October 22, 1844: Louis Riel was born in red river.
March 19, 1885: Louis Riel was persuaded to lead the Metis once again. He started a second provisional government and seized the parish church of Batoche First nations chiefs were prepared to support Louis Riel.
April 24, 1885: The battle of fish creek was when Dumont organized 150 first nation men to attack the government soldiers. The soldiers were taken by surprise. Both sides withdrew from the area.
November 16,1885: Louis Riel was convicted of treason and was allowed to be executed because the prime minister of Canada John A. Macdonald allowed his death sentence to be carried out. Louis Riel was executed on November 16, 1885
