The Homestead Strike occurred on June 30th 1892 due to Unfair working conditions, Reduced wages and longer working hours. Workers began to strike, however when armed rioting began 8,000 Militia were sent in to control the situation. The rioting died down after that and on July 6th 1892 the strike officially ended.
