Landed American and Allied tanks and troops at points in Morocco and Algeria, which then fought east across North Africa, eventually meeting up with Montgomery's British forces in Tunisia. There, Rommel’s forces surrendered to the Allies in May 1943. This was another important victory for the Allies.
