The Age of Metals is one of the two great technological stages in which the Eurasian Prehistory has traditionally been subdivided. By definition, it is the period that followed the Stone Age and during which man began to make molten metal objects. The existence of metallurgical processes is indispensable to establish the ascription of an archaeological culture to this stage, since the native metals were worked by hammering from the initial phases of the Neolithic.2 Following this criterion, the Metal Age would begin with the first evidences of foundry of the copper, that are of the VI millennium a. (In Anatolia and the Zagros Mountains) and would end the progressive entry into the history of each region (in Europe this occurred during the 1st millennium BC). In Mesopotamia and Egypt coincides already with the development of writing and therefore the metallurgy there is fully historical.
