The Tea Act (10 maio 1773 ano – 10 maio 1773 ano)
Descrição:
The Tea Act was passed on May 10th 1773. The Tea Act allowed British East India Company Tea to sell tea directly to the colonies. The colonists didn’t like this because by selling the tea so cheaply, it gave the British East India Company Tea a monopoly on tea sales. This put colonial tea resellers out of business, and undersold any competitors. Britain thought the Tea Act would keep British East India Company Tea from going out of business, due to low revenue. Instead, the colonists resisted, often preventing ships of tea from docking or unloading.
