The Berlin Blockade was an attempt between June 7, 1948 and May 12, 1949 for the USSR to block the ability of France, the United Kingdom, and the United States to travel to their parts of Berlin. It was the first major cash of the Cold War. It would have worked if not for the Berlin Airlift. The Berlin Airlift was a plan to fly over Soviet-occupied Berlin and parachute supplies and food. It is marked blue because eventually the USSR backed down and surrendered.
