W. E. B. DuBois was another early leader for black people in America. DuBois rejected Washington's views that blacks should start low in the economy and work their way up, arguing that blacks need to strive for higher education, so that the black educated elite can adequately represent their race in society and politics and ultimately effectively challenge the system of racial injustice in the South. DuBois was one of the founders of the NAACP, an important organization that would work towards ending racial injustice across America.
