This war was fought between the forces of Carthage and Rome, because each thought that the other had too much territory. Carthage had a strong navy, which Rome could not contest. So, Romans built ships similar to the Carthaginians, and added a spiked bridge called a Corvus, which gave the Romans a way to attack with their superior land troops. The Carthiginians were paying mercenaries to attack Rome, but soon were no able to pay them anymore, and the mercenaries atacked Cathage.
