Japanese Invasion of China - 1937-1945 (WWII) (7 jul 1937 ano – 9 set 1945 ano)

Descrição:

Through a staged border skirmish between Japanese and Chinese soldiers in 1937 known as the Marco Polo Bridge Incident, the Japanese justified, and later executed, a full-scale military invasion of China. This is generally known as the Second Sino-Japanese War, and as a major theatre of warfare during the Second World War.
A temporary truce between the Chinese Communists and Chinese Nationalists was declared in order to face the imposing threat to their sovereignty in the form of the ongoing Japanese invasion.
The Chinese countryside and populace were utterly devastated after 6 years of constant fighting. The region’s economy and infrastructure were in shambles.
Despite being far behind the Japanese in terms of technology, weaponry, and economic stability, the Chinese were able to put up a stable guerilla resistance against the Japanese throughout the years encompassing the Second World War.
Throughout the entirety of the war, the Japanese were the perpetrators of dozens of war crimes, ranging from civilian massacres to inhumane experiments on unwilling human specimens. Although this was not entirely one-sided, the Japanese are generally seen as having been responsible for a much larger quantity of war crimes against the Chinese, rather than the opposite. One of the most notable Japanese war crimes had occurred from December 1937 to January 1938, in what has been named the Nanjing Massacre. During this period, members of the Japanese Army’s occupational force in Nanjing oversaw the deaths of upwards of 100,000 Chinese citizens, with numbers ranging from 140,000 deaths to 340,000 deaths and 20,000 rapes.
The Japanese first saw continuous victories all across the frontline with China, having occupied a sizable portion of the Eastern Chinese coast by 1941. As the Japanese pushed further west, they were faced with the issue of insufficient Chinese infrastructure, which was already lacking in the comparatively-cosmopolitan east.
Out of the 20-million estimated deaths as a result of Japanese hostilities from 1937-45, nearly 10 million have been alleged as having died in China.
