and​ ​vowed​ ​to​ ​free​ ​his​ ​country​ ​of​ ​Venezuela​ ​from​ ​the
Spanish.​ ​ ​From​ ​1811​ ​forward,​ ​he​ ​fought​ ​the​ ​Spanish
and​ ​won​ ​major​ ​victories​ ​in​ ​Colombia​ ​in​ ​1819,
