Great Migration to New England (1 jan 1629 ano – 1 jan 1642 ano)

Descrição:

A migration of English settlers to Massachusetts Bay. Between 1629 to 1642, over 20,000 Puritans had arrived at the colony. Though it was named the Great Migration, it was less than 1/3 of English emigration in the 1630s, with the majority going to Ireland, the Chesapeake, and the West Indies. However, Massachusetts Bay was unique compared to the others. They typically arrived in families, meaning that its adult residents tended to be older and the sex ratio more equal. The region of New England was also famously good for one's health, as opposed to the dysentery and malaria that ran rampant in the Chesapeake. This led to the rapid population increase of New England, outnumbering the aforementioned American colonies by 1700.
