Meth (1 jan 1940 ano – 1 jan 1950 ano)
Descrição:
Wearing the crown as the head-honcho of all psycho-stimulants, meth got initial approval to treat depression, narcolepsy, and alcoholism, and is still in use today like amphetamine before it, treating ADHD and helping weight loss efforts. With the advent of the Second World War, meth became a combat drug on both sides of the conflict, letting soldiers and pilots forego food and sleep while boosting reflexes and attention span. However, the remaining stock after the fact was loosed into the civilian sector rather than destroyed, and that’s where some trouble cropped up (at least for Japan). Into the 60s, the classic arms race of prohibiting drugs kicked into effect, with restrictions being prompted by abuse, spawning the first meth labs using Sudafed to make drugs on the cheap, leading to ephedrine becoming a restricted, prescription-only drug in the 80s. Easily recognized by the hallmark drug-induced psychosis that frequently takes place, meth also induces extreme euphoria, increased libido, supreme self-confidence, and both mental and physical overactivity, which can lead to jitters or shakes, and a feeling of bugs on the skin.
