Ancient China - Qin Dynasty (17 set 221 ano antes da era comum – 12 jan 207 ano antes da era comum)

Descrição:

The Qin Dynasty ruled through the teachings of Legalism, which featured strict laws, harsh punishments, and a strong central government. One such event that featured this strict rule was the book burning of Confucius books. What were causes and the effects of the book burning?
Causes → During a meal a confucian scholar criticized the emperor. The scholar warned that the Qin dynasty would not endure unless the emperor followed the ways of the past. The scholar angered the trusted adviser of the emperor, Li Siu. Li told the emperor and said that the government should censor the scholars. No one, he said, should be allowed to learn about Confucianism. All the Confucian books must be brought to the capital city and burned.
Effects → Only books dealing with medicine, farming, and the history of the Qin kingdom could escape censorship. Anyone who disobeyed the order of the book burning would be sent to do forced labor and be marked with a tattoo on their face. If someone discussed the ancient teachings, they would be guilty of criticizing the government and be killed. This shocked the people of China and some people chose to die rather than give up their books.

What was the purpose of the emperor of the Qin to construct a long wall along parts of its northern border?
Purpose → To protect his empire from invaders.
