Largely seen as the greatest Abbasid caliph. The early era of his reign was controlled by his mother, Khayzuran, a Yemeni concubine of al-Mahdi, and the Barmakids. Reign is notable for its contact with Charlemagne of France, as well as its overseeing of great wealth and stability.
