The Song or Sung dynasty ruled China from 960 to 1279 CE with the reign split into the Northern and Southern Song periods. The Northern Song was well put together and united but when they were invaded by the Jin state they gave ground and moved their capital city to Hangzhou. The Southern Song was shorted lived than the northern part. CHina as a whole was very modernized, but there was a lot of deciet and infighting that allowed the mongols to take them over.
