Jim Crow Laws (2 jul 1864 ano – 2 jul 1964 ano)
Descrição:
Jim Crow Laws, which began in the 18th century, sort of as a revival to the 'Black Codes' of the 1860s. These laws made whites and blacks separated on every level, and also stated that whites were superior to blacks. This caused segregation and discrimination that was protected by the notion of "separate but equal" which stopped segregation from violating the 14th Amendment. These laws came under question during the Civil Rights Movement which had existed ever since the beginning of the Jim Crow Laws, but had begun to make progress in the 1950s and 1960s. The Jim Crow Laws offically ceased after the Civil Rights Act was signed, making it illegal to discriminate against a person by their race.
