1. What do we learn about Emma´s family from this extract?

She lived with her family, and her one sister who was married. Emma was the younger daughter. They was a rich family who lived in Hartfield in the English countryside near the village there her mother died.

2. What sort of a girl is Emma?

Emma Woodhouse if handsome, clever and rich, with a comfortable home and happy disposition. She diden´t want to be married because she realized that she fell in love with her friend.

3. Describe the relationship between Emma and Miss Taylor.

She was less a governess than a friend to Emma and she lived with them in sixteen years. She and Emma was more like sisters than friends.

4. Why is she suddenly left to herself and her father?

Because Miss Tylor got married.
