We have little information about him, but what we do have is in the books of Omni, Words of Mormon, and Mosiah.

He was king after his father Mosiah. During his reign he successfully led his people in driving the Lamanites away. It is also hinted that there was a kind of civil war among the Nephites during his reign as well.
During the end of his reign he worked with a number of unnamed prophets to bring the people to repentance.
At the end of his life he gave his famous address and turned the kingdom over to his son, Mosiah II. He died three years after this.

His life can be more definitely outlined, as we are told the year he died. We are not told how old he was, however, so it is still just an estimate.

I place his birth in the year 218, making his father 36 when he was born. This also means that Benjamin was 8 when Mosiah fled with the righteous Nephites. His death, as given in the record, was in the year 121, making him 97 when he died.
