The period of time covered in the book of Mosiah.

Note the overlap with the book of Omni. This is because it is in Mosiah that we have a record of Zeniff and his people. They are first mentioned in Omni, but their record is inserted into the story in Mosiah. Therefore, Mosiah covers a wider time period than might first be supposed.

The original author of Mosiah is not really known, and is likely several different people. The book itself is an abridgment made by Mormon (about 500 years later) from a collection of records from the time period.
Thus the following people likely made contributions:
1. King Benjamin, the son of King Mosiah I: first few chapters, in which are recorded his famous address to the people.
2. King Mosiah II, the son of King Benjamin: a couple chapters after his father's address, as well as a couple near the end of the book.
3. Ammon, a descendant of Zarahemla: a brief contribution in relating the events of the expedition to find the people of Zeniff.
4. King Zeniff (unknown parentage): Contributed the first few chapters of the record of the people of Zeniff.
5. King Noah, son of Zeniff: While I doubt that had a direct hand in keeping any records, some were obviously kept of his reign.
6. King Limhi, son of Noah: The last few chapters of the record of the people of Zeniff.
7. Alma the Elder (parentage unknown): Alma recorded the words of Abinadi as well as the events of the people he led away from King Noah. He also likely added, or contributed to the chapters regarding the conversion of Alma the Younger.

This would make Mosiah the one book with the most contributors, with a total of eight (counting Mormon and his abridgment).
