• Facts:
o Virus that causes gastroenteritis
o Poor hygiene and handwashing raises your risk.
o Common with young children and infants
o Rotavirus is the leading cause of diarrheal disease among infants and children.
o Found in stool and transmitted fecal-orally. Humans shed the most rotavirus. Transmitted via fomites, hands, and/or contaminated food.
• Symptoms/Transmission:
o Severe watery diarrhea, vomiting, fever, abdominal pain, and dehydration (dizziness, decreased urination, dry mouth)
o Transmitted through fecal-oral route
• Treatment:
o No medicine, just supportive care
o Hydrate
o Poor hygiene and handwashing raises your risk, so wash your hands and have good hygiene!
