One Hundred Flowers Campaign (4 maio 1956 ano – 16 jul 1957 ano)

Descrição:

The movement began within the communist government of China in order to give greater freedom of speech to the Chinese people. It was around the time of 1956 when the Chinese intellect started to openly question the Chinese Communist Party’s policies. The famous slogan by the Chinese people was “Let a hundred flowers bloom, and a hundred schools of thought contend.” It wasn’t until the spring of 1957 did the Communist Party get intense scrutiny. From students to professors, it seemed like everybody was denouncing the form of government. This movement fell short, as Mao decided to go after those who criticised him and his government, either by slavery or unemployment, and kept his regime up for another few years.
