A rise in Colombian Nationalism and the rise of the conservative party in Ecuador would lead to a border conflict in 1863. The Resulting war was reletively short; however, the resulting Treaty of Pinsaqui would establish Ecuador as a Colombia client state. It would also transfer the British lease on the Galapagos Island to Colombia.
