The rise of France after the french revolution posed a great threat to Britton. After Napoleons defeat the victors reorganized Europe into a more politicly stable continent wich allowed it to enjoy a relative peace for 100 years. this made it easier to industrialize and build empires. The defeat of Napoleon also asserted the 19th century as the British century.
